The management of Buruj Sports Academy have vowed to continue to unearth, train and expose young talents who will be good enough to play for national teams at youth level.
Speaking on the performance of the national U-17 team, Golden Eaglets after winning their second group game against Angola 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon, the CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed opined that he and his management and technical crew are working hard to give the players of the academy a sure foundation that will enable them to attract the attention of national teams selectors going forward.
“I want to congratulate the Golden Eaglets following their victory over Angola on Wednesday in far away Tanzania. I just hope they can win the African title to send warning signals ahead the FIFA World Cup. It will be good to go there as African Champions.”
“For us at Buruj Sports Academy, it is our mission and vision to produce players who are well equipped to play for the age grade national teams. That’s why we are working daily to train and expose our players to national and foreign competitions.”
“Players need good foundation to thrive. There are certain things our young players do not know here and that is why it’s always difficult for them to compete against their counterparts in Europe and Latin America when the chips are down. That’s what we are doing when they come over to register with us.”
“With what we are doing in training them daily, very soon our academy will be a scouting ground for national team coaches,” he enthused.
The Golden Eaglets will now face Uganda in the final group game of the competition though they have already qualified for the semi-final and World Cup. They have earlier beat host Tanzania 5-4 in their opening game of the African U-17 Nations Cup.
