In a swift reaction to the victories of the Super Eagles that officially sealed its qualification to AFCON championship, and particularly, the win in the international friendly game against Egypt, the national chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Samuel Ikpea, stated that the team is in a good stead to do well at the AFCON championship.
Speaking with journalists in Asaba, the soft- spoken football enthusiast was optimistic about the chances of the team at the continental championship.
And he was quick to attribute his optimism to the recent performances of the team and the abundance of experienced and quality youthful talents at the disposal of the team’s coach.
“I am particularly impressed by the performance of the boys in the friendly match against the Pharaohs of Egypt,” he noted.
” After we scored the only goal, which was also one of the fastest ever scored by a Super Eagles. The Egyptians came hard on our boys and gave us a really good game which also brought out the best in our boys.
“And with the quality of the young players like Paul Onuachu, Victor Osinmeh, Onyekuru, Chukwueze and others coming into the team, as well as, adequate preparations and encouragement for the team, I think we can perform creditably well and even win the cup,” he enthused confidently.
” Let me also tell you that we’ve begun our mobilization towards ensuring that our members, both home and diaspora storm Egypt in large numbers to support and encourage our boys to ultimate victory,” he added.
