A prominent player in the rampaging squad of LA Knights has revealed all the factors that made it possible for the high-flying team to dump Lagos Alpha 58-0 in their sixth match of this year’s Flag Football Showtime Summer Series.
Sports247 was there live on Sunday evening, as LA Knights romped to a mammoth scoreline at Showtime Arena in Lekki area of Lagos, and Uzoma revealed afterwards that it was due to sheer determination on the part of every member in the squad.
She added that, apart from diligence on the part of Knights’ players, they are also all focused on the same target of remaining strong as this season’s potential champions, while they aim to enjoy each game that comes their way.
Uzoma retorted further in an exclusive chat with Sports247, “It was fun. We just had fun and we won. Yeah, we had fun, and we are happy for the win. We’re moving forward, and our eyes are on the prize. We need to get there.”
While affirming that LA Knights are determined to be crowned champions of this year’s Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL), which is affiliated to Nigeria Flag Football Federation (NFFF) and recognised by Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Uzoma added that they are not getting carried away by their chain of victories.
She reasoned that LA Knights just have to remain steady and focused, especially with memories of how a team that was unbeaten all through last year’s regular season eventually lost in the Showtime Summer Bowl finals.
The ebullient ace assured their fans: “We are not crazy about the wins. We just want to get to a point where we become the champions of Showtime Series. We are definitely under pressure, but we are managing it. We do not want to be like the team from last season. Our trick is that we don’t underestimate anybody.”
With only one match now left to play in the first round of the regular season, Uzoma concluded with more assurances to supporters of LA Knights that the players and crew will continue their gradual progression of concentrating only on one game at a time.
“We will keep moving on, game after game. We prepare according to the team we will play next and we don’t do any crazy stuff. We don’t like to experiment any crazy stuff. We just follow technique and the pattern of play. We have that mindset to dominate every single game. That’s what we’ll do until we finally emerge as champions,” Uzoma theorised.
