As part of their preparations for the upcoming CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Egypt, the Flying Eagles continued their intensive training in Cairo, focusing on building form and tactical cohesion ahead of the continental tournament.
The team held their training session on Thursday evening at the Jewel Sports City training ground in Cairo. The session lasted for 1 hour and 30 minutes, emphasizing skill drilling and technical refinement under the close supervision of Head Coach Aliyu Zubair and his technical crew.
All 24 players in camp participated fully in the session and are in good shape. Encouragingly, no injuries were recorded, and the entire squad remains fit and focused as they gear up for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
The Cairo camp is strategically designed to simulate competitive conditions and provide quality international exposure as the team aims for a strong performance in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers and a return to continental glory.
Nigeria’ is the top seeded in Group B which has Tunisia, Morocco and Kenya.
Nigeria will take on Tunisia in their opening group match on Thursday, 1 May 2025

The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will progress to the quarter-finals.
The tournament runs from 27 April to 18 May 2025 across three Egyptian cities: Cairo, Ismailia, and Suez.
The four semi-finalists will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025.
