Remo Stars Ladies etched their name into history books after a pulsating 2-2 draw against Abia Angels in a rescheduled Matchday 13 encounter played Thursday morning in Umuahia.
The game, initially halted due to torrential rain on Wednesday, resumed with all eyes on the Sky Blue Stars needing just a point to seal the deal—and they delivered in dramatic fashion.
Star forward Bolaji Olamide continued her electric form, smashing home her 11th goal of the season in the 35th minute. Abia Angels’ Mary Lucky responded swiftly, leveling the score five minutes later.
Just as the match seemed poised to end in a stalemate, Olamide struck again in the 92nd minute with a stunning effort, only for Mariam Abdulrasheed to equalize moments later with a powerful header for the hosts.
But the draw was enough. Remo Stars Ladies, in only their second top-flight season, celebrated their maiden Super Six qualification—a fairytale rise for the Ikenne-based side.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa Amazons also secured their playoff berth, joining defending champions Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, and Bayelsa Queens in what promises to be a blockbuster Super Six showdown this May. The venue is yet to be announced, but excitement is already building.
With just one spot left, the race is on between Naija Ratels and FC Robo Queens as the curtain falls on the regular season. One final matchday. One golden ticket. Let the drama unfold.
Must Watch. Must Cheer. The Super Six is coming.
