The Nigerian-born duo of Ayo Akinola from Toronto FC of Canada and Matthew Olosunde from Manchester United of England are both set to play for United States of America in different age-grade ties on Friday.
Sports247.ng reports that, while Akinola steps up to Team USA’s under-19 squad, Olosunde is moving to the under-23 cadre and set to make his international debut in the Olympic Games’ soccer outfit.
Akinola, who has been named to USA’s youth team ahead of the 2019 FIF U20 World Cup, he is bound to get another international cap in Friday’s top grade friendly against France and another versus Japan on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Olosunde, who is a fast-rising right-back at Old Trafford, is in USA’s under-23 squad that is set to face Egypt in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain on Friday and against Holland two days later.
Interestingly, the 21-year-old Olosunde, who has caps for United States at both under-17 and under-20 levels, trained with the senior team last summer before his non-competitive debut in a 3-0 win against Bolivia.
Olosunde is back to full fitness after spending several months out with an injury that stopped him from making his Man United first team debut.
