Nigerian goalkeeper George Michael is aiming to take his career beyond Nigeria, following a successful journey through the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
Renowned for his sharp reflexes, consistency, and leadership on the pitch, Michael stands out as one of the NPFL’s most trusted goalkeeper.

Michael’s football journey began in Kaduna with Badiko Lions FC, before being discovered by Coach Taye of Ranchers Bees FC in 2008, marking the start of his professional career.
He went on to represent FC Taraba in 2010, then El-Kanemi Warriors FC, where he spent several seasons and served as captain for four years.
His career path also included stints with Niger Tornadoes FC, Wikki Tourists FC, and Gombe United FC.
In February, Michael made a mid-season switch to Katsina United FC. During his time at Gombe United, he featured in 11 matches and kept 7 clean sheets.
Since joining Katsina United, he has played in every match, already registering two clean sheets.
In a chat with our Sports247.ng, Micheal Reflected on his NPFL experience , Michael said:
“It has been a wonderful experience for me because it has always been my dream to play football and to play it at the highest level.”
His steady rise through Nigeria’s top-tier league highlights a career marked by dedication, resilience, and passion for the game.
Michael’s most vivid NPFL memory came during the 2018/19 season with El-Kanemi Warriors: “One experience I can’t forget was in the 2018/19 season while I was still playing for El-Kanemi Warriors. That year, we were second on the table with just a few matches left in the abridged season, but we ended up getting relegated. I’ll never forget that season.” He told Sports247.
With years of domestic experience and a solid record, George Michael is now setting his sights on international opportunities.
His performances for Katsina United continue to draw attention, and a move abroad could be the next big chapter in his football journey.
