Competing in the men’s 400m, the VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) sophomore clocked a new personal best of 47.17s, finishing 6th overall in a competitive field. The time marks a significant improvement for Okafor, who has consistently lowered his college bests since transitioning to outdoor competition.
However, it was in the men’s 4x400m relay that Okafor truly turned heads. Running the opening leg for the VCU Track & XC team, he blazed through with an eye-popping 44.34s split—a remarkable display of raw speed and determination. Although the team unfortunately did not finish (DNF) the race, Okafor’s split was one of the highlights of the relay event and underscores his growing reputation as a top 400m prospect.
Okafor’s recent performances not only boost his profile on the NCAA stage but also place him firmly on the radar for Nigeria’s national team selectors, with the 2025 season continuing to unfold.
