Hon. Adeleye Lukman Urges Youths to Embrace Sports as Tool Against Social Vices at Irete Owo Ila Festival

The Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly and representative of Odogbolu State Constituency, Hon. Adeleye Lukman, has encouraged Nigerian youths to actively participate in sports as a constructive way to avoid social vices.

He made this appeal during a marathon race held in celebration of the Irete Owo Ila Festival in Ijebu Irete.

Hon. Adeleye described sports as a powerful force for unity that transcends ethnic, religious, and social boundaries. Commending the vibrant participation of local youths, he highlighted the impressive display of talent by the young athletes.

Explaining his motivation for sponsoring the event, he aligned it with the Ogun State Government’s commitment to discovering and developing grassroots talent. He added that with the National Sports Festival approaching, such initiatives are crucial for scouting and nurturing promising athletes.

Referring to sports as “the new crude oil,” Hon. Adeleye emphasized its potential to offer sustainable career opportunities and financial independence to young people.

He concluded by advising youths to remain engaged in sporting activities as a meaningful and positive alternative to negative influences.

In the marathon race, Ogunyemi Damilare secured first place in the male category, followed by Faniyi Remilekun and Abiola Salimot in second and third positions, respectively.
In the female category, Balogun Ranti emerged as the winner, with Ogunfuwa Abibat and Adebanjo Aminat taking second and third places.
