British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua turned a simple haircut into an internet sensation during his recent visit to Nigeria — and threw in a playful jab at his London barber for good measure.

While enjoying time in Ogun State, AJ skipped the glitzy salons and opted for an authentic street-side barbershop experience. A now-viral video shows him calmly getting trimmed by a local barber, surrounded by excited onlookers and vibing to some energetic fuji music, blending in like any regular guy on the block.
But it wasn’t just the haircut that caught fans’ attention — it was the price and AJ’s hilarious commentary on social media afterward that truly stole the show.
“Shout out to my Barba in Naija, this trim cost me 50p, but obviously we niced uncle,” Joshua wrote, showing love to the local barber.
Then, in true heavyweight fashion, he dropped a cheeky warning to his UK barber, famed London stylist @SliderCuts:
“If @SliderCuts doesn’t lower his price! On behalf of London I will deliver the deadliest uppercut.”
The post quickly exploded online, with fans applauding Joshua’s down-to-earth vibe and killer sense of humor. Many praised his willingness to mix with locals without security and fully embrace his roots.
While no actual uppercuts have been delivered (yet), it’s safe to say the barbershop moment packed a punch on social media — and SliderCuts might want to consider a Nigeria-inspired discount.
