The golf event, which brought together over 130 players including key members of the Main and Local Organising Committees, is part of a broader slate of community engagement activities designed to foster social networking beyond the competitive arenas.
Speaking to journalists, Ikpokpo highlighted the multipurpose vision of the NDSF, sponsored by the NDDC, which aims to discover and nurture athletic talent, promote regional integration, and actively engage host communities. He also hinted at future inclusions, such as cricket and rugby, in subsequent editions of the festival.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the much-anticipated Cultural Expo slated for April 7. The stage is being rigged, and rehearsals are already underway. The Expo, a highlight of the festival, will showcase over 40 performers drawn from the nine mandate states, blending comedy, music, dance, and cuisine into one vibrant celebration at Unity Park (Christmas Village), Uyo.
Entertainment maestro Edi Lawani described the event as a unique community engagement platform intended to wind down the festival week with flair and energy. He emphasized its dual goal of social connection and creative industry empowerment, with a lineup that includes established stars like comedian Delstalker and singer Humble Smith as well as emerging talents.
With gender inclusiveness front and center, the expo will also feature female DJs, red carpet hosts, and performers, all under an immersive backdrop of exotic lighting and large-screen projections
