Kebbi Fishers and Kada BSC have maintained their perfect start to the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL), winning all their matches as the first stanza concluded on Thursday.
The first round of the league wrapped up with two games played at Filin Sukuwa, Sani Abacha Bye Pass, Birnin Kebbi.
In the opening match, Kebbi United BSC staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Jigawa Golden Star BSC 6-4. Jigawa had initially taken a commanding 4-1 lead, courtesy of a hat-trick from Hamza Bagudu and a goal from Yusuf Kamilu, with Ibrahim Malami scoring for Kebbi United.
However, Kebbi United turned the tide in the second and third periods with goals from Isyaku Atiku (brace), Muniru Aliyu (brace), and Zahara Black to secure their second win of the campaign.
In the second game of the day, defending champions Kebbi Fishers BSC made it three wins in three matches, overcoming last season’s runners-up Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors 3-1.
Taiwo Adams and Hassan Muhammed scored in the first and second periods, respectively, to give the hosts a two-goal cushion. Emeka Ogbonna pulled one back for the Anambra side, but Hamza Manga responded immediately from kick-off to restore the two-goal lead.
With the result, Kebbi Fishers sit atop Group A with a perfect nine points from three games, five points ahead of Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors. Ibom BSC has three points, while Nmanko Patigi BSC remains pointless.
In Group B, 2022 champions Kada BSC lead the standings with nine points, followed by Kebbi United BSC with six points. Jigawa Golden Star BSC has three points, and Niger BSC is yet to register a point.
The second stanza of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League is scheduled to take place in Kaduna State in June.
