Governor Dapo Abiodun Inspires Athletes at 3×3 National Wheelchair Basketball Championship, Inspects Facilities for 22nd National Sports Festival

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, kicked off the BetKing 3×3 National Wheelchair Basketball Championship with an encouraging visit to the Alake Sports Center in Ijeja, where the competition is taking place from April 3rd to 7th, 2025.

During his visit, the Governor praised the athletes for their perseverance and commitment to the sport, motivating them to continue pursuing their passion despite the challenges they face.

He assured the players, “I commend all participants for your dedication. You are already winners. Your resilience to stay true to your passion is inspiring, and as a sports-loving state, we will continue to support you in achieving your dreams.”

Seyi Johnson, President of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, expressed his gratitude for the Governor’s visit, calling it a landmark moment for the federation and a powerful boost for the athletes.

“This visit is a significant milestone for us, and it will further promote the growth of wheelchair basketball in Nigeria. We are grateful for the Governor’s ongoing support for both wheelchair basketball and Nigerian sports.”

In addition to meeting with athletes, Governor Abiodun also inspected the facilities that will host the upcoming 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) in May. He commended the NSF Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for their efforts in ensuring the venue meets the high standards expected for the event.

The BetKing 3×3 National Wheelchair Basketball Championship serves as a valuable test run for the venue ahead of the prestigious National Sports Festival, set to take place from May 16th to 30th, 2025.
