Rivers United Banking on Samson Obi, Chijioke Mbaoma To Fire Them Past Remo Stars In NPFL Title Race

Obi and Mbaoma rejoined the Pride of Rivers as free agents following stints in Libya with Al Anwar and Al Ittihad, respectively. With the duo back in the squad, Rivers United are hoping their attacking prowess will be the key to closing the gap on the high-flying Remo Stars in the race for the NPFL crown.

Rivers United, who have been among the league’s top contenders in recent seasons, have struggled at times to convert chances in front of goal. Their reliance on a solid defensive structure has kept them competitive, but head coach Stanley Eguma is now banking on Obi and Mbaoma to add the much-needed attacking spark.

Mbaoma, a proven goal-scorer in the NPFL, is expected to slot seamlessly into the side, while Obi’s versatility and ability to play across the front line could give Rivers United more attacking options. Both players have experience playing in the NPFL and are familiar with the demands of the league, which could prove crucial in the title race.

With Remo Stars maintaining their grip on the top spot, Rivers United will need immediate contributions from their new signings to stand a chance of reclaiming the title. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Obi and Mbaoma to see if they can propel Rivers United past their rivals in the battle for NPFL supremacy.
