In a letter signed by the NFF Director of Competitions, Ruth David, the federation confirmed that five Shooting Stars players were not registered with the NFF but instead they used forged licenses.
These players were fielded in the Round of 64 match against Zamfara United at the Area 3 Field, Abuja, leading to the club’s expulsion from Nigeria’s oldest football competition.
The letter, signed on behalf of the NFF General Secretary, stated:
> “It has come to our attention that your club fielded five (5) ineligible players who are not registered with the NFF for this edition of the competition.”
The ineligible players are:
1. Samuel Okon (Jersey No. 21)
2. Sodiq Ibrahim (Jersey No. 27)
3. Ephraim Nwachukwu (Jersey No. 20)
4. Nonso Nzediegwu (Jersey No. 23)
5. Ukeme Williams (Jersey No. 5)
The letter further emphasized that the licenses used by these players were forged, resulting in the club’s immediate disqualification from the 2025 President Federation Cup.
