“The last time we received equipment like this was in 2004. We have had to borrow or rent gear whenever we participated in competitions. But thanks to Senator Ademola Jackson Adeleke and his deputy, our team now has jerseys, sticks, skates, and protective gear,” the coach stated.
He further described the government’s intervention as a turning point for hockey in the state, expressing gratitude for the renewed support.
“On behalf of the Osun Hockey Team, we sincerely appreciate this generous contribution. It not only improves our players’ experience but also motivates them to aim for greater achievements. The state government’s dedication to the sport is commendable, and while we are truly grateful, like Oliver Twist, we will always hope for more,” he added.
The newly acquired equipment is expected to strengthen Osun’s presence in national and club-level hockey competitions while also fostering the sport’s growth at the grassroots level.
