Former Super Eagles’ midfielder, Edema Fuludu has charged Nigeria’s current set of national team players to rise up to the occasion and win their impending matches for the sake of their new coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, Sports247 reports.
With the Franco-Malian tactician currently under fire heading into his debut as the Eagles’ new manager, Fuludu is of a view that Chelle’s future with Nigeria’s star studded squad will depend on the efforts of his players.

The former Julius Berger FC of Lagos sensation added that the plight of every coach actually depends on the quality and commitment of his players, hence his charge to the Eagles’ stars to take Rwanda and Zimbabwe to the cleaners in next week’s FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Fuludu theorised, “For me, I don’t think it’s the work of the coach alone. It’s also up to the players. If the boys come to the party, then they can deliver. But, we’ve had a rough patch in this qualifying series, with regards to the 2026 World Cup. So, we need to give them all the backing we can.
We should skip around the issue of the coach and concentrate on the matches. For me, the players make the coach. If the boys step up and come to the party, we can be victorious.”
Fuludu opined further that all Nigerians also have a role to play in ensuring that the Eagles’ aspirations for the 2026 Mundial get back on track, as he pointed out that, instead of criticising the coach’s efforts, support from all and sundry is direly needed at this point in time, especially as all their group rivals also want to qualify.
“We must remember that our opponents are not sleeping. So, I’m also praying that we’ll get a good result. I hope we’ll get a good game and we should not worry about the list.
If you give 100 Nigerians who love football the opportunity to pick a list, everybody will bring a different squad. For now, it’s up to Eric Chelle. So, let’s see what the coach has to offer,” Fuludu submitted.
