Babs Ogunade Outlines Critical Role of Afrobasket Qualification for Future Success

NBBF Vice President Babs Ogunade emphasized that the federation entered its last three fixtures with crucial information, knowing that qualifying for Afrobasket was essential to avoid being sidelined from the World Cup and Olympic tournaments for the next four years.

“I think they were better informed that if we don’t qualify, we’ll be out in the cold for the next four years. We’ll be out in the cold, not take part in the World Cup, and not take part in the Olympics. That’s what it is.” he explained. However, with the D’Tigers already securing their place at Afrobasket, the focus now is on building momentum and fine-tuning performance for upcoming challenges.

Babs Ogunade continued, “There’s a lot of work for us to do. We have a lot of work to do. Hopefully, we can get all our acts in order. But I mean, there’s really no respite. Let’s do it that way. The absence of one is the presence of the other,” He pointed out that the team is now concentrating on preparation and continuous improvement to maintain Nigeria’s competitive edge on the global stage.

The vice president added that the federation remains committed to executing its plans going forward, urging everyone involved to get their acts together and work tirelessly to secure Nigeria’s place on the global stage.
