Flying Eagles prolific forward, Clinton Jeptha has expressed his desire to score against Cote d’Ivoire as both set for another friendly on Friday, Sports247 reports.

In a chat with the Sports247, Clinton Jeptha revealed this personal target ahead of second friendly of the double header, due for Friday, 28 February 2025 at the
Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny in Abidjan .
Clinton fired blank in the first of the preparatory match ahead of the U20 AFCON which the Flying Eagles Nigeria won 2-0 against the host, courtesy two second half goals scored by team captain Daniel Bameiyi and Divine Olise.
“Naturally I love scoring and I have set a target to score against Junior Elephants on Friday” said Clinton Jeptha.
The player went ahead to give his assessment of the first match against the Ivorians as the Flying Eagles have now recorded a back to back victory over the Junior Elephants.
“They are a not a bad side, they had a good game in the first half, it’s was close but because we put harder in the second half we dominated them and convert our chances, I think we can beat them again” Clinton asserted.
Recall, the Flying Eagles defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 at the 2024 WAFU B championship in Lome in their final group stage match.
Coincidentally, Clinton Jeptha scored one of the two goals Nigeria scored on the night to secure a place in semi final of the 2024 WAFU B championship after a difficult start.
The two international friendly matches is part of the preparations for the Nigeria team ahead of the 2025 U20 African Cup of Nations, (U20 AFCON) due for Cote d’Ivoire from April 16, 2025.
Nigeria will play against Morocco, Egypt and South Africa in the group stage as they seek one of the FIFA U20 World Cup available for Africa at the championship.
