Delta Athletes Urged To Stay Resilient At South South Zonal Eliminations

Athletes representing Team Delta at the ongoing South South Zonal Eliminations for the 2025 National Sports Festival in Benin City have been urged to remain focused and determined despite initial setbacks.

The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, who is present with the team in Benin City, encouraged the athletes not to be discouraged by the first-day results but to push harder for qualification.

He reminded them that they are ambassadors of Delta State and must embody the “never say die” spirit, emphasizing that “Delta no dey carry last.”

Mr. Oborevwori stressed that the early results should not define them but instead fuel their determination to succeed. He reassured the athletes of unwavering support from the people of Delta, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who are backing them with prayers and encouragement. He also reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to their welfare.

Additionally, he urged the athletes who have already secured qualification for the Gateway Games not to become complacent but to intensify their preparations. As defending champions, he reminded them that they would face tough competition and must be ready to uphold their title.

The South South Zonal Eliminations continue today.
