In a proactive move to familiarize himself with the Ministry and make informed decisions, the newly appointed Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Nasarawa State, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, has commenced a series of strategic briefings with key stakeholders.
On Tuesday, Hon. Kwanta received briefings from the Department of Administration and Supplies, as well as the management of Nasarawa United Football Club and Nasarawa Amazons Football Club.
The session was led by Director Ms. Helen Ken Madaki, alongside Mr. Solomon Babanjah and Hajiya Hussaina Suleiman Nagogo, who provided insights into the respective football clubs.
The Commissioner also engaged with the leadership of the Supporters’ Clubs of both football teams, represented by Abubakar Abdulsalam and Adamu Shigafarta. These sessions aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Ministry’s operations, challenges, and opportunities while fostering collaboration among key stakeholders.
Hon. Kwanta expressed appreciation for the detailed presentations, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and strategic planning. He announced plans to establish a Committee to develop a work-plan for the Ministry, ensuring swift action and progress.
“I will ensure I brief our youth and sports-loving Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, on all I have been briefed today, so the government can take proactive measures where necessary,” the Commissioner stated.
He further pledged an open-door policy, urging stakeholders to present innovative ideas that would enhance the Ministry’s growth.
Earlier, Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan welcomed the Commissioner and assured him of the staff’s full support. He highlighted the significance of the briefings in guiding the Commissioner toward achieving the Ministry’s objectives.
Director of Administration and Supplies, Ms. Helen Ken Madaki, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing hope that Hon. Kwanta’s leadership would usher in positive developments for the youth and sports sector.
