The Uganda Police force has released first statement over the death of former Nigeria youth international, Abubakar Lawal who died on Monday in Uganda, Sports247 reports .

Abuabaka’s death was widely reported earl Monday but contrary to popular reports in the media that Abubakar died after a fatal bike accident the police report claimed he fell off a Balcony which sparked a suspected murder.
In a complete twist of event as police began investigation into the unfortunate death, the police has release an official statement in as their preliminary report which indicate as follows via a witness.
” That Lawal arrived at the shopping mall in his vehicle to meet his friend , Omary Naima a Tanzania national residing in room 416 since 20 February 2025.
” Naima left the room to prepare tea and proceeded to a game center within the Mall. ”
“Shortly after at 8:00 am, Lawal was reportedly fell from the balcony and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.”
This is a contrary report which states that the 29-year-old was reportedly en route a club training session after dropping off a friend at Entebbe Airport when the accident occurred.
Abubakar Lawal joined Vipers SC in July 2022 from Rwanda’s AS Kigali as crucial member of the squad who played eight games this season before his untimely death.
The former Kano Pillars FC, Wikki Tourists FC, and Nasarawa United remains has since been deposited in a facility for a post mortem as his club, Vipers FC confirmed in their official statement expressing deep sorrow over his death.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and untimely passing of our beloved player, Abubakar Lawal, who left us this morning.
” His body has been transferred to a medical facility for a post-mortem examination. ”
“Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lawal’s family, club fans, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Fans, teammates, and the football community have been mourning his loss, paying tribute to his dedication and contributions to the sport.”
“Lawal’s passing is a significant loss to both Vipers SC and the broader football fraternity,” a club statement reads.
