Dannaz Ladies FC’s enterprising playmaker, Olawunmi Akintola has promised the club’s teeming fans that their conquest of the Lagos State FA Cup and upcoming campaign at the national level of the competition will not take the team’s focus away from seeking a spot in this year’s Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6 play-offs.

Sports247 reports that Olawunmi was all smiles and giggling excitedly after her team defeated Unification Queens 1-0 to win the Lagos State FA Cup over the past weekend but, while admitting it was a feat they had long dreamt off, she stressed that their focus remains fully on reaching the NWFL’s end of season title decider.
Olawunmi confessed, “I feel happy and excited. It was something we wanted to win before now. Last year, we entered the final with Robo but, because of fatigue and all other odds, we lost the final.”
The ebullient lass went on to declare that she and other players in Coach Bashiru Fatai’s squad will now try to kill two birds with one stone, as they aim to excel in the Federation Cup at the national level and equally keep alive their target of qualifying for the Super-6 when the NWFL’s regular season hits a climax.
“This year, God made it happen. Here we are. All glory be to God and thanks to our manager. Probably we are going to celebrate after now and enjoy as a winning team but, like we planned, we are also looking at the NWFL Super-6. So, we are coming out stronger for the second round of the season. Watch out for Dannaz Ladies,” Olawunmi assured.
