The Solid Miners got off to a flying start when Idris Ajiya found the net in under a minute, scoring one of the fastest goals of the season. However, Bayelsa United responded in the 38th minute, with Rabiu Abdullahi netting the equalizer.
Just before halftime, Ajiya struck again in stoppage time, restoring Nasarawa United’s lead with a clinical finish. Despite Bayelsa United’s relentless second-half pressure, they struggled to find another breakthrough in regulation time.
The visitors believed they had secured all three points after the five minutes of added time had elapsed. However, in the 98th minute, Ifeanyi struck for the hosts, crushing Nasarawa United’s hopes. Although the away team protested for offside, the referee upheld the goal, sealing the dramatic stalemate.
With this result, Nasarawa United remain 18th on the log with 27 points from 25 matches. Up next, they face Si14 Football Club of Keffi in the semi-final of the Nasarawa State President Federation’s Cup on Friday, February 21, 2025.
