Meet The New Lagos State Football Association Secretary

The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) remains committed to capacity building, human development, and gender equality in sports administration.

In line with these core values, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Vera Hycient Okechukwu as the new FA Secretary.

After the emergency board meeting today that had 10 board members in attendance, all 10 board members unanimously voted for this decision.

Her appointment is a historic milestone, as she becomes only the second woman to hold this esteemed position since the inception of the Lagos FA and joins a select group of just three female FA Secretaries across Nigeria.

As mandated by the Lagos State Football Association 2023 Statutes (as amended), Section 5d, the Association is empowered to appoint a substantive Secretary, and we have done so with confidence in Mrs. Okechukwu’s ability to serve with excellence.

Mrs. Okechukwu brings a wealth of experience, having served under various Secretaries and demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout her career. She has held several key roles, including:

Assistant Secretary, Bayelsa Football Club

Team Manager, Cerezo Queens Ilorin

Administrative Officer, Pepsi Football Academy (under the late Coach Laluko)

Academically, she holds a B.Sc. in Physical and Health Education from Lagos State University and an Advanced Certificate in Sports Management from the National Institute of Sports.

We are confident that her expertise and dedication will drive the Lagos FA to greater heights. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Vera Hycient Okechukwu on this well-deserved appointment.

We wish her great success in her new role.
