FC Ebedei emerged as the inaugural champions of the Cool Hopefuls Cup after a dramatic 4-2 victory in a penalty shootout against B. E Arena FC.
The intense final, held at the FC Ebedei Stadium in Apele-Sagamu, Ogun State, ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time.
This marked the second clash between both sides in the preseason scouting tournament, sponsored by Ebedei Sports College.
FC Ebedei had previously secured a narrow 1-0 win over B. E Arena FC during the group stage. The final proved to be a tougher encounter, with both teams battling for the coveted title.
After a goalless first half, FC Ebedei took the lead just two minutes into the second half, with Fanen Tekula breaking the deadlock in the 47th minute.
Moments later, Shile Lawal seemingly doubled the advantage, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
B. E Arena FC responded in the 67th minute when Emmanuel Nweke fired in a stunning equalizer, setting up an exciting finale.
In the closing stages, goalkeepers Ojo Daniel (FC Ebedei) and Chibuzor Nwaiwu (B. E Arena FC) put on a remarkable display, making crucial saves to keep their teams in contention.
With the match deadlocked at full-time, the title was decided by penalties. FC Ebedei’s shot-stopper, Ojo Daniel, emerged as the hero, saving two spot kicks.
Meanwhile, his teammates held their nerve, converting all four of their attempts to seal the championship for FC Ebedei.
