Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have resumed camp in Abuja as they begin preparations for the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
Under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubair, the team held their first training session on Monday at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium. Training intensified on Tuesday with two sessions—morning and afternoon.
The Flying Eagles head into the tournament as back-to-back WAFU B U-20 champions, having secured qualification for the continental event through their regional triumphs.
The 2025 CAF U-20 AFCON is scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 18, with 12 teams vying for the title and a place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The qualified teams include Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, DR Congo, Congo, Kenya, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Egypt, and Morocco.
CAF has yet to conduct the official tournament draw. The competition also serves as the qualification pathway for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic spots at the global tournament.
