In a significant engagement with a key stakeholder of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abeokuta, Mr. Abdullahi Dayo Israel, Chairman of the FMC Abeokuta Governing Board, met with Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former Governor and former Senator from Ogun State.
The meeting focused on acknowledging the Senator’s contributions to the center and discussing future development plans.

During the discussion, Mr. Israel expressed deep appreciation for Senator Amosun’s unwavering support for FMC Abeokuta, including his donation of 170 hectares of land, which serves as the permanent site for both the medical center and the proposed Federal University of Medicine, Abeokuta.
He also commended the former Governor for his past financial contributions, particularly the ₦100 million donation to the center.
“I sincerely thank Senator Amosun for his generosity and commitment to the growth of FMC Abeokuta. His contributions have been instrumental in expanding healthcare access and infrastructure in Ogun State,” Mr. Israel stated.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the completion of the 180-bed hospital that Senator Amosun has donated to the center. Mr. Israel assured that under the current board’s leadership, there would be a strong focus on sustainability, improved healthcare delivery, and global competitiveness through strategic leadership and collaboration.
“Our vision is clear—FMC Abeokuta must become a globally competitive institution where cure is prioritized over cost. We will ensure that the center is more sustainable and delivers the highest quality of healthcare through strategic leadership,” he added.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Israel reaffirmed his commitment to working tirelessly to elevate FMC Abeokuta to new heights, stating: “It is my belief that whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”
With strong backing from influential figures like Senator Amosun and a clear roadmap for development, FMC Abeokuta is poised for significant transformation, setting a new standard for healthcare excellence in Nigeria.
