As preparations intensify for the 4th Edo State Sports Festival scheduled for April, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa has officially inaugurated the Main Organizing Committee, with the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, serving as Chairman.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at Government House, Benin, Hon. Idahosa reaffirmed the state’s commitment to solidifying its reputation as a leader in Nigerian sports.
He described the festival as a key initiative of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, aimed at promoting grassroots sports development and community participation.
“This festival is a strategic step towards strengthening sports in Edo, fostering talent discovery, and preparing athletes for future competitions, including the 2025 National Sports Festival in Ogun State,” Idahosa stated.
He emphasized that regular competitions are crucial for athletes to reach their full potential, adding that the festival would serve as a platform for talent identification and selection for Edo’s contingent at the National Sports Festival.
The Deputy Governor urged committee members to work as a team to ensure a successful event. The committee includes Mrs. Sabina Chikere as Secretary, alongside Hon. Frank Ilaboya, Hon. Baldwin Bazuaye (MON), Barr. Ikunobe Anthony, and other key officials from the Edo State Sports Commission.
Meanwhile, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, who doubles as the festival’s Organizing Committee Chairman, assured the government and people of Edo that his team would work tirelessly to uphold Edo’s reputation as a sporting powerhouse.
“As a committee, we understand the responsibility placed upon us and will execute our plans with utmost dedication and excellence,” Enabulele stated.
Reiterating the administration’s vision of making Edo a hub for sporting excellence, he pledged to uphold principles of fairness, sportsmanship, and competition.
He also emphasized collaboration with stakeholders, sponsors, and the public while ensuring transparency and innovation in the festival’s planning and execution.
“This festival will not only celebrate Edo’s sporting achievements but also discover new talents who will represent the state and nation at higher levels,” he added.
