AFFAN Chairman, Dr. Toyin Aluko, Confident In NSC’s New Leadership Under Chief Bukola Olopade

The Chairman of the Association of Former Female Athletes in Nigeria (AFFAN), Dr. Toyin Aluko, has expressed confidence in the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) new leadership, describing it as being in the hands of capable sports administrators.

Dr. Aluko made this assertion following a closed-door meeting between AFFAN members and the Director General of the NSC, Chief Bukola Olopade, at his office on Thursday.

Highlighting Chief Olopade’s vast experience—particularly from his tenure as the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports—Dr. Aluko emphasized that his expertise will be instrumental in reshaping Nigeria’s sports landscape.

She further noted that the partnership between Mallam Shehu Dikko and Chief Bukola Olopade is a positive development for Nigerian sports.

“Our discussions with the NSC Director General have reassured me that the Commission is in competent hands,” Dr. Aluko stated.

“Everything that Mallam Shehu Dikko, the Chairman, previously outlined aligns perfectly with Chief Olopade’s vision.”

Expressing optimism about the future, Dr. Aluko praised the duo’s combined expertise, stating that their leadership has the potential to significantly transform sports in Nigeria.

“Chief Olopade was instrumental in the successful hosting of the 2006 National Sports Festival in Ogun State, which led to substantial improvements in sports infrastructure. I have no doubt that similar progress will be achieved under his leadership at the NSC,” she said.

Dr. Aluko also reaffirmed AFFAN’s commitment to supporting the ongoing transformation in Nigerian sports.

“AFFAN is eager to be part of this new era, as we have former female athletes who have represented Nigeria internationally. Our mission is to ensure that current female athletes feel included and are encouraged to prioritize their education alongside their sports careers,” she concluded.
