The Nasarawa Amazons Football Club of Lafia continued their sensational run in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) with a thrilling 2-0 victory over visiting Ekiti Queens on Matchday 4 at the Lafia City Stadium.
In a match that had fans on the edge of their seats, both sides battled fiercely in the first half, but neither could break the deadlock.
However, the second half saw the Lafia Landladies shift into high gear. Ojiyovwi Kesiena lit up the stadium with a superb strike in the 62nd minute, sending the home fans into a frenzy.
Just two minutes later, powerful forward Janet Akekeromowei, breaking free from her goal drought, smashed in a second, sealing a crucial win for the Amazons.
Ekiti Queens fought back valiantly, but Nasarawa’s rock-solid defense held firm, showcasing tactical brilliance and resilience as the minutes ticked down.
With this hard-fought victory, Coach Christopher Danjuma’s side climbed to the top of the NWFL Premiership 25 standings with 9 points, keeping their Super Six aspirations alive.
