The 2018 Open Shotokan Cup has ended at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, with outstanding performances from the competitors, to the delight of spectators and Japanese instructor, Kasuya Sensei.
The World Shotokan Karate-do Federation representative, one of the most respected karate masters in the world, was thrilled with the performances.
Kasuya, who was a student of the late modern day shotokan karate master, Nakayama Sensei of Japan Karate Association, said it was worthwhile experience.
The event, which was hosted by World Shotokan Karate Federation, saw the Karatekas compete in Kumite and Kata styles.
Winners of the championship were the Male Grand Champion, Emmanuel Nweke and Female Grand Champion, Ujunwa Nwankwo.
They both excelled in Kumite (Sparring) and Kata (Shadow Fighting, Pattern, Forms), after which they also received Japanese Swords for their efforts.
