NWFL 2025: Heartland Queens’ Coach Obi Ogbala Promises To Make Owerri Club’s Fans Happy

Heartland Queens of Owerri coach, Obi Ogbala has downplayed his team’s inability to pick a win in their first three matches of the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) this season, saying they will soon make their fans happy.

Sports247 reports that Ogbala remained upbeat after his Owerri-based side drew goalless at home with Abia Angels of Umuahia in their third match of the new NWFL campaign, as he believes an improved show by his players indicated that better results will soon start coming their way.

Ogbala reflected, “It’s a game of football. We are still blending. I have almost the entire team being new players. In terms of team philosophy, we are still blending. I’m now seeing the picture and understanding how I’m going to use the players in our subsequent matches.

“We’ll approach the games one at a time. This one has gone, and three matches have gone. Ahead of the fourth match, we are going back to work on all the areas that I observed during the draw with Abia Angels.”

Ogbala admitted that many of the club’s fans are sad, disappointed and skeptical about his team’s chances of staging a revival in the unfolding season, but he took a philosophical angle to their current woes, while promising to work on goals scoring by his wards, to make Heartland Queens’ array of supporters become happy people.

“We’ll work towards it and see how we’ll go about it. Since Abia Angels could come here and pick a draw, we can equally go elsewhere and win. In the area of goal scoring, we are going to give it serious practice so that we’ll be able to convert our chances when necessary. For our fans, they should be happy now, because the girls were able to up their game, irrespective of the scoreline.

“So, for the fans who may be unhappy, the team is going to make them happy. We are coming up. It’s a marathon, and we still have many more matches to play. We are going to put smiles on their faces. So, they shouldn’t get worried. We’re working towards that,” Ogbala reassured.
