Remo Stars pulled off a stunning comeback at home today, fighting back from two goals down to defeat Abia Warriors 3-2 and extend their lead at the top of the NPFL table to six points.

The visitors took a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half, putting the home side under immense pressure. However, Remo Stars responded in the second half with a display of resilience and determination.
The decisive moment came in the 54th minute when Franck Mawuena rose highest in the box to head home the dramatic winner, completing the turnaround for Remo Stars. The home crowd erupted as the hero of the day wheeled away in celebration.
“We never lost belief,” said Mawuena after the match. “We knew we could turn it around, and we did it together.”
With the win, Remo Stars solidified their position at the top of the table with 42 points from 21 matches, maintaining a six-point cushion over their rivals.
Meanwhile, Shooting Stars moved up to second place with 36 points, while River United follows closely behind in third with 34 points. The competition for the title continues to heat up, with these teams closely chasing the leaders.
Ikorodu United also made a significant move, climbing into the top five after their dominant 4-1 victory over Kano Pillars, moving to fifth place with 31 points.
In other matches, defending champions Enugu Rangers suffered a second consecutive defeat, going down 2-1 to El Kanemi Warriors. The defeat sees Rangers drop to sixth place with 31 points, while El Kanemi climbs to fourth with 32 points.
Bayelsa United also put on an impressive performance, thrashing Sunshine Stars 4-1 to climb to 11th place, while Akwa United held relegation battlers Lobi Stars to a 1-1 draw, denying them a vital away win.
