The Commissioner for Budget and Planning and Vice-Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP), Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, has emphasized that education and skills development are pivotal to the economic transformation of any state or nation.

Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of Government Technical College, Ajegunle, in Ewekoro Local Government Area, Olabimtan highlighted the state government’s commitment to modernizing its eight technical colleges. He stated that the administration’s focus on education and skill acquisition serves as a foundation for sustainable economic growth.
“Skill development is a cornerstone of this project. Economic transformation cannot be achieved without prioritizing education and skill acquisition, which are crucial for the state’s progress,” Olabimtan said.
He urged community leaders to work collaboratively with the state government to ensure the effective use and sustainability of the rehabilitated technical colleges. He also praised the proactive engagement of the Baale of Ajegunle, Chief Musibau Ogunpola, and encouraged other leaders to follow his example.
Representing the OGSTEP Project Coordinator, Mrs. Mosunmola Owo-Odusi, the Project Manager for the Skills Development Sector, Mr. Fatai Osunsanya, reassured the community that the rehabilitated college would feature world-class infrastructure. He affirmed the government’s dedication to creating a conducive learning environment that aligns with global standards for skill acquisition.
Similarly, the Project Engineer for OGSTEP, Engr. Kayode Oseni, expressed confidence in the timely delivery of the project, affirming that every necessary effort was being made to meet the scheduled completion date.
In response, the Baale of Ajegunle, Chief Musibau Ogunpola, expressed his gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for prioritizing the rehabilitation of the technical college. He pledged the community’s support in maintaining the facility and ensuring its security and sustainability.
