Defending champions of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL, Edo Queens Football Club of Benin will on Wednesday January 29th, 2025, renew rivalry with Remo Stars Ladies of Ikenne in NWFL Match day 3 fixtures.
The match which is expected to kickoff by 6pm will be the second consecutive premiership game to be played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin since the campaign for the 2024/25 NWFL new season started three weeks ago.

Merciless Edo Queens and Remo Stars Ladies are both top contenders for the Super Six slot in Group A. They have put up a scintillating appearance having won two straight matches. Edo Queens have six points from two matches, same for the Mathew Wemimo- led team. Unstoppable Queens from Benin City are totally committed to defending to their reputation by ensuring that everything is done to seek nothing but total victory in Wednesday clash.
These two teams have something in common, recall that Moses Aduku, and Mathew Wemimo were one time colleagues at the National U- 20 Women team, Mathew Wemimo was also the former head coach of Edo Queens, it was when she left the team before the Super Six that Moses Aduku stepped in.

The Ancient City based ladies have won the Sheroes pre- season Cup tournament twice, Remo Stars Ladies have won it once. Edo Queens have also proven their superiority over Remo Stars Ladies by winning the NWFL, premiership title and also went ahead to represent Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League level where they conquered West Africa and became champions of WAFU-B.
As host team, so much is expected from Moses Aduku and his girls. There is most likely to be tension, apprehension and anxiety because having won two games, fans would be expecting their darling Edo Queens to do them proud.
For Mathew Wemimo, she is not a new person to Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, she has a lot of supporters because of her megnanimous spirit, calmness and respectful nature. This two teams have a lot of respect for each other while on the field of play. Is going to be a tough, a game that will prove surprises.
