Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega has joined Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad Ladies FC in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, signing a two-year contract. The 31-year-old Nigerian international makes the move after leaving Russian club CSKA Moscow.
Ordega, a seasoned footballer with a career spanning clubs in the United States, Spain, and China, brings her wealth of experience to the Saudi league.
Known for her speed, creativity, and goal-scoring ability, she has also been an integral part of Nigeria’s national team, featuring in multiple FIFA Women’s World Cups and contributing to their Africa Women Cup of Nations triumphs.
While the Saudi Women’s Premier League is gaining traction globally, Ordega’s move aligns with a growing trend of experienced players exploring opportunities in emerging football markets.
Al-Ittihad Ladies FC, based in Jeddah, is aiming to strengthen its squad and compete at the highest level in the league, with Ordega expected to play a key role in their attacking lineup.
“I’m thrilled to join Al-Ittihad Ladies FC and look forward to bringing my experience to the team. It’s exciting to be part of a league that’s on the rise,” Ordega said.
Although the league is still establishing its global reputation, Ordega’s signing highlights its ambition to grow and attract international talent.
Fans eagerly await her debut, hopeful that her addition will enhance the team’s prospects in the upcoming season.
While not necessarily a groundbreaking transfer, this move is another step forward for the Saudi Women’s Premier League as it continues to evolve and gain recognition on the global football stage.
