Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, is set to commence its 34th Convocation Ceremonies for the 2023/2024 Academic Session.
The ceremonies, scheduled to run from Thursday, 23rd to Friday, 31st January 2025, will be held at the Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola, during a press conference at the University Senate Chamber on Thursday, 23rd January.

The event-packed week will kick off on Friday, 24th January, with a Health Walk for staff and students, followed by an Agriculture and Engineering Show and a Special Jumat Service.
A Convocation Service will hold on Sunday, 26th January, at the Chapel of Abundant Life on the Main Campus by 10:00 am. Other scheduled activities include a Convocation Play on Monday, 27th January, and a Novelty Match on Tuesday, 28th January.
On Wednesday, 29th January, Bachelor’s Degrees will be conferred on graduands from the Faculties of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Education, Law, Pharmacy, and Social Sciences.
The award of degrees will continue on Thursday, 30th January, with graduands from the Faculties of Administration and Management Sciences, Agricultural Management and Rural Development, Agricultural Production and Renewable Resources, Clinical Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Studies, and Science.
The grand finale of the ceremonies will take place on Friday, 31st January, beginning at 10:00 am. The day will feature the conferment of Postgraduate Degrees, the presentation of prizes, and the conferment of an Honorary Doctor of Science Degree on renowned Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Chief Medical Director of the Eye Foundation Hospital Group, Dr. Adekunle Olubola Hassan. The Convocation Lecture, titled “TETFund and Educational Development in Nigeria: The History, the Treasures, and the Future”, will be delivered by the Acting Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arch. Sunday Echono.
This year, a total of 6,209 students will graduate, including regular students and those from the Centre for Continuing Education programmes. Among them are 115 First Class graduates, 1,845 Second Class Upper Division graduates, 3,044 Second Class Lower Division graduates, 688 Third Class graduates, and 35 graduates with a pass degree.
The Visitor to the University and Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour. He will also commission several projects at the Main Campus. The event is expected to attract dignitaries, including academics, government officials, industry leaders, and other distinguished Nigerians.
Professor Ayodeji Agboola expressed his gratitude to the University Alumni for their contributions, including funding infrastructure projects. He also acknowledged HRM Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, Awujale of Ijebu Land, for his unwavering support and dedication to the university’s growth.
