Two referees of the Nigeria National League ,NNL, have been stepped down from the list of match officials till further notice Sports247 reports.
In a letter from the NFF Referee committee, the Referee of the Week 5 game; Crown FC of Ogbomosho vs Dakkada FC of Uyo, Ese Williams and Muritala Folahan, the Assistant Referee 2, may not be appointed for another match until further notice.
According to a statement signed by Ameenu Mohammed, for the NFF Referees Committee Chairman, dated January 22nd, 2025, the stepping down of the referees stems from the decision of the match officials that have no recourse to any part of the Laws of the Game in view of the Incidents that occured in their match.
The NFF Referees Committee used the opportunity to warn that it won’t tolerate such misconducts that would bring the game and refereeing to disrepute..
The NNL has been plagued by integrity questions over the years which are occasioned by Poor interpretation of the laws of the game, lack of game management or outright wrong decisions by match officials.
