Nigeria’s Junior Yellow Greens have secured a spot in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Super Six stage, despite a 41-run loss to South Africa in their final Group C match on Wednesday in Malaysia.
Earlier in the tournament, the team made history by defeating New Zealand. Although they fell short against South Africa, the Nigerian side finished second in the group with three points, earning them a place in the next round.
South Africa topped Group C with six points after securing three consecutive wins, while New Zealand also advanced after defeating Samoa.
In the Super Six stage, Nigeria is placed in Group 2, where they will face England on Saturday and Ireland next Wednesday.
Both Group 1 and Group 2 consist of six teams each, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
