Former Sunshine Stars forward and Super Falcons striker Blessing Augustine Nkor has made a significant move abroad, joining Spanish women’s football club Deportivo La Coruña.
The 21-year-old signed a short-term deal with the club, which runs until the end of the season, following her stint at Egypt’s Pyramids FC.
Known for her versatility as both a central striker and winger, Nkor becomes Deportivo’s first signing of the current transfer window.
Her arrival at Riazor Stadium is expected to bolster the team’s attacking options after the recent departure of Venezuelan forward Oriana Altuve earlier this month.
Nkor has already demonstrated her goal-scoring prowess, notably during her time with Gaziantep Asya Spor in Turkey, where she netted 12 goals before returning to Africa.
Now in Spain, she joins an impressive roster of Nigerian players excelling in the country, including national team captain Rasheedat Ajibade of Atlético Madrid.
The young forward earned her senior national team debut last year in November during international friendlies against France, the hosts of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
