BREAKING: Lagos FA Dismisses LSFCA for Misconduct, Insubordination

The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), led by Chairman Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, has provisionally dismissed the Lagos State Football Coaches Association (LSFCA) for alleged gross misconduct and insubordination.

This decision follows a memo from the LSFCA, dated January 3, 2025, challenging the LSFA’s collaboration with the National Institute for Sports (NIS) to organize a coaching programme for Lagos State coaches.

In the memo, signed by LSFCA Chairman Tairu Hassan and Secretary-General Rasheed Suleiman, the coaching course was described as divisive and undermining the association’s rights.

However, the LSFA’s strongly-worded response, signed by Secretary Akeem Rabiu-Okikiopusu, deemed the LSFCA’s objections as disrespectful and in violation of the 2023 amended LSFA Statutes.

The LSFA stated that the association is the sole regulatory authority for football in Lagos State under the aegis of the NFF and FIFA.

It dismissed claims of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the LSFCA and NIS, calling it non-binding and unenforceable. Furthermore, the LSFA accused the LSFCA of obstructing its programmes and breaching multiple statutory provisions, including disloyalty, failure to pay annual affiliation fees, and questioning the LSFA’s authority.

Citing these breaches, the LSFA provisionally dismissed the LSFCA leadership and the association as congress members in accordance with Article 14:2 of its statutes. Further decisions on the matter will be made at an Extraordinary General Assembly.
