Nigeria will present four teams in the 2025/2026 CAF Inter -Club Cup competitions despite Enyimba’s 3-1 loss to Zamalek in Egypt Sports247 reports.
In the updated ranking after the conclusion of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup group stage, Nigeria Retains her number 12 position.
The top 12 position on the five coefficient ranking will have four teams from their association countries played in the 2025/2026, presenting two each in CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup.
Nigeria was on the brink of dropping out of the top 12, as it went into the final day match against Zamalek in Egypt.
Tied with Nigeria in number 12, Mali club Stade De Malien only needed to win their CAF Confederation Cup against CD Luanda Sul of Angola, to overtake Nigeria on the ranking.
But Stade De Malien failed to take the home advantage after Enyimba was beaten by defending champions Zamalek FC, 3-1; CD Luanda Sul shocked the Malians with a 1-0 home defeat as both teams got knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Implication of these two results is that Enyimba finished third in group D with five points while Stade Malien finished fourth with four points in their group, with Nigeria retaining the number 12 position while Mali dropped to number 13 on the coefficient ranking.
The association ranking for the 2025–26 CAF Champions League and the 2025–26 CAF Confederation Cup is based on results from each CAF club competition from 2020–21 to the 2024–25 season.
The top ranked 12 teams are Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Tanzania , Angola , Congo DR, Sudan, Ivory Coast, Libya and Nigeria.
