Ogun State Government Partners Agro Rangers To Prevent Farmers-Herders Clashes And Protect Agricultural Assets

The Ogun State Government has announced its commitment to ensuring food sufficiency and the safety of farmers through a partnership with the state command of Agro Rangers.

The collaboration aims to address conflicts between farmers and herders while securing agricultural resources across the state.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, revealed this during a meeting with the Deputy Commandant of Agro Rangers, Ogun State Command, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), AbdulRaheem Waheed, in Abeokuta. Hon. Owotomo stated that the Ministry would work closely with the Agro Rangers to eliminate the activities of land grabbers on agricultural land, enabling farmers to concentrate on food production without disruptions. He added that periodic meetings would be held to review activities, develop strategies, and enhance performance.

In his remarks, Deputy Commandant Waheed stressed the importance of the collaboration in achieving the government’s food security goals. He encouraged farmers and herders to seek assistance from law enforcement agencies to resolve conflicts instead of resorting to self-help.
