Subomi Ogundele, a student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), marked her professional debut in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) with a stunning goal.
On Wednesday, she made her first appearance for Remo Stars Ladies in an away match against Confluence Queens, contributing to their 3-1 triumph.
The former Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA) top scorer netted in the 48th minute, equalizing for her team before they went on to secure the win.
Reflecting on her milestone, Ogundele expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Glory to God Almighty.”
Known for her dedication to both academics and sports, Ogundele’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. While representing UNILAG, she has amassed an impressive array of awards and trophies, including being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and top scorer during the NUGA games. She also played a key role in securing a third-place finish at the FASU Games.
Recalling her early days in football, she said, “I still remember the first time I kicked a ball and scored my first goal back in JSS2. Football has been a core part of my life since my days at UNILAG.”
Now embarking on her professional career, Ogundele is excited about what lies ahead. “Signing for Remo Stars Ladies is not just a dream come true but the start of something amazing. I am proud to be a star,” she shared.
