The memory of Brazilian football legend and 2007 Ballon d’Or winner, Ricardo Kaka came alive this week in Lagos, as a female player who shares his surname featured at the ongoing 2025 All Stars Women Football Competition.
Sports247 reports that Roshidat Kaka is captain of the players featuring for a team named ‘Finland’ during the competition being organised by Association of Nigeria Women Football Club Coaches (ANWFCC).
Although the original Kaka, who played for Sao Paolo of Brazil, AC Milan of Italy and Real Madrid of Spain, is a male and Christian, while this lass is female and a Muslim, everyone still wondered about the coincidence in their surnames.
Incidentally, Roshidat, whose surname has a different pronunciation than the one from Brazil, disclosed in a chat with Sports247 that she often plays among male footballers in order to build her confidence and to perform better during matches with her club.
She added, “I’ve been playing football for five years with STM Doves. I am a person who just loves football. From my childhood, I’ve loved football, and I’m not scared of anything in the field. I just have confidence, especially when I see my friends around me. I even play among boys, and that builds up my confidence more.”
Roshidat concluded by revealing that she has total support from her family in her zeal to keep playing football, and then projected that she will soon enact some great achievements, as she continues improving in the game.
“I have every support that I need from my parents, and nobody stops me from playing football. I want to achieve more strength, focus and vision. I believe this competition will help me to improve,” Roshidat concluded.
