Former Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu Applauds NSC DG Bukola Olopade for Transformative Sports Leadership

Immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, has commended the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, for his visionary leadership and innovative strides in revitalizing Nigerian sports.

During a visit to Hon. Olopade’s office in Abuja on Thursday, Shuaibu described the DG’s appointment as a masterstroke, attributing it to President Bola Tinubu’s strategic vision.

Shuaibu lauded Olopade’s efforts to position Nigerian sports as a business venture, capable of boosting the nation’s economy and creating job opportunities.

“Sports can be the next oil for Nigeria. We can take a lot of young boys and girls out of the labour market. There is a huge number we can empower through sports,” Shuaibu remarked.

He further emphasized the unique dynamics of sports management, praising the establishment of the NSC as a key step towards professionalism.

“Sports cannot be run like other government activities because of its dynamic nature,” he said, applauding President Tinubu for prioritizing sports as a national asset.

Hon. Bukola Olopade, in response, expressed gratitude for Shuaibu’s longstanding dedication to sports development and reiterated the NSC’s commitment to elevating Nigerian sports.

This synergy between the former deputy governor and the NSC leadership underscores a shared vision of leveraging sports to transform lives and drive economic growth in Nigeria.
