Seyi Tinubu: Redefining Leadership Through Service – APC National Youth Wing’s Young Person Of The Year 2024 By Dr. Dayo Israel

When disaster struck Borno State last December, it drew widespread attention and support from Nigeria’s top philanthropists and leaders. Among the many who responded, one name stood out for his quiet determination and thoughtful approach—Seyi Tinubu.

Mobilizing his extensive network, Seyi delivered tangible relief to displaced families, providing both financial assistance and essential supplies. His efforts went beyond charity, reflecting a deep sense of duty and empathy. This was not an isolated act but part of a long-standing pattern of contributions that began years before his father assumed the presidency.

Over the years, I have witnessed Seyi’s consistent and impactful contributions to humanity. Before his father’s rise to the esteemed position of Commander-in-Chief, Seyi demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social good. An example of this was his ongoing support for monthly food interventions in Lagos communities through FoodClique, which positively impacted my neighborhood in Ebute Metta under the late Bolajoko’s leadership. His quiet but effective support has inspired many.

Seyi Tinubu’s dedication to addressing societal needs often emphasizes action over passivity. Through initiatives like the Noella Foundation, he has championed community-driven change. His efforts range from supporting food security to empowering youth through education and entrepreneurship, reflecting his vision of sustainable impact.

A trained lawyer with degrees in Law and Corporate & Commercial Law from the University of Buckingham, Seyi has skillfully blended his legal and entrepreneurial background with his philanthropic endeavors. As the CEO of Loatsad Promomedia Ltd., his professional achievements are commendable, but his greater passion lies in using his resources and influence to uplift others.

For years, Seyi has supported numerous organizations, including Sonia Agu’s Sapio Club and other foundations. These platforms have enabled him to extend his reach, touching lives across diverse sectors. Whether mentoring young entrepreneurs or sponsoring initiatives that address critical social needs, he has consistently demonstrated that leadership is rooted in service.

The Noella Foundation, named after his daughter, addresses pressing issues such as girl-child education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. Its flagship program, the Seyi Tinubu Empowerment Project (STEP), equips young Nigerians with the skills and resources needed to succeed in a digital economy, fostering resilience and innovation.

In December, Seyi’s visit to Maiduguri, where he donated over ₦500 million in aid for flood victims, exemplified his leadership approach—prioritizing collaboration and swift action. Addressing Governor Babagana Zulum and other stakeholders, he emphasized the importance of collective efforts in rebuilding lives and communities.

His interventions also extend to healthcare and education. From supporting Infant and Maternal Healthcare Initiatives at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) to funding scholarships for pediatric residency doctors, Seyi has consistently focused on systemic change. Additionally, his philanthropic acts, such as offsetting medical bills for indigent patients, highlight his dedication to bringing relief to those in need.

Now within the corridors of power, Seyi has not wavered in using his influence to improve lives. He continues to leave an indelible mark on millions who might otherwise be forgotten, demonstrating that leadership is not about visibility but lasting impact.

Seyi’s philosophy of leveraging his platform for the greater good sets him apart. In a time when influence is often equated with spectacle, his preference for quiet but meaningful contributions underscores his unique approach to leadership.

As Nigeria faces complex challenges, young leaders like Seyi Tinubu remind us of the power of purposeful action. His journey is not about perfection but progress, and it is this resilience that inspires hope across the nation.

In light of these achievements, the APC National Youth Wing is proud to announce Seyi Tinubu as its Young Person of the Year 2024, part of the Progressives Young Leaders Award. He will be honored at an event to be announced soon.
