Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions Edo Queens, will begin their defense of the league title won last season against Abia Angels at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Sports247 reports.
This was revealed at NWFL the Annual General Assembly (AGA) at Fabino by Toprank Hotels, Abuja on Tuesday as part of the resolutions at the assembly.
Among other resolutions reached is the confirmation of the kick off date of the 2024/2025 season, slated for January 15, 2025.
A total of 16 teams were drawn into two groups of eight as the proposal to expand the league to 18 teams failed to pass
Group A has defending champions Edo Queens, Abia Angels, Ekiti Queens, Heartland Queens, Confluence Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons, and Dannaz
While Group B has Rivers Angels, Ibom Angels, Adamawa Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Honey Badgers FC, FC Robo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, and Delta Queens.
The league will take the same route as last season where the top three teams from each group will play in the Super Six players off to determine the winner of the league.
Edo Queens represented the country in the CAF Champions League by virtue of winning the league as the promotion of Ibom Angels and Honey Badgers were ratified and will play in the Premiership this season.
