Ikorodu City have been snaction by the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, for breach of rules and regulations governing the league, Sports247 reports.

The Matchday 17 played under flood light in Lagos and saw tensions flew over the bearable limit in the first ever between the two south west teams, as a yet to be identified person slapped one of the coaches of Remo Stars, coach Suliamon Kamil.
Consequently, a statement from the NPFL signed by Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer confirms that Ikorodu City FC breached some part of the rules and regulations framework governing the smooth running of the league in their game against Remo Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena last Sunday and have been sanctioned accordingly.
A part of the sanction reads: “You are in breach of Rule B13.52 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League, in that on Sunday, 15 December 2024, in the course of Match Day 17 Fixture: Ikorodu City vs. Remo Stars, you failed to provide adequate and effective security which resulted in unauthorized persons gaining access to restricted areas and the assault of the Remo Stars Coach, Mr. Sulaimon Kamil.
“You are in breach of Rule B13.18 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League, in that on Sunday, 15 December 2024, in the course of Match Day 17 Fixture: Ikorodu City vs. Remo Stars, unauthorized persons encroached onto the field of play.
“You are in breach of Rule C9 of the Frameworks and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League, in that on Sunday, 15 December 2024, in the course of Match Day 17 Fixture: Ikorodu City vs. Remo Stars, you failed to ensure the proper conduct of your team and supporters, which resulted in the assault on the Remo Stars Coach, Mr. Sulaimon Kamil.
“Consequently, the NPFL hereby imposes on you the following sanctions: A fine of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) for failure to provide adequate and effective security.
“A fine of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) for encroachment onto the field of play. A fine of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) for failure to ensure the proper conduct of your team and supporters.
“An order to identify and prosecute the individual(s) involved in the assault on Remo Stars Coach, Mr. Sulaimon Kamil.
A report detailing the progress of this action must be submitted to the NPFL within seven (7) working days of the date of this notice.
“An order to close the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium to fans for the next two consecutive home games.
In accordance with Rule C26, you are required, within 48 hours of the date of this notice, to either: Submit to the summary jurisdiction and the sanctions contained herein; or elect to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel.
Any such election must be in writing addressed to the undersigned at the office of the NPFL.
“Should you submit to the summary jurisdiction and the prescribed sanctions, kindly note that the fines therein are to be paid within seven (7) working days.
Note that in accordance with Rule El, where an appeal or election to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel fails or is found to have been frivolous, such party may be liable to such additional sanction(s) as may be deemed fit in the circumstances.”
Ikorodu City are yet to respond to the sanctions and allegations as at press time.
The highly explosive match ended 1-1 as both teams left the pitch with a share of the spoils with Remo Stars finishing the match with ten men.
